I have wanted to be a midwife since I was a little girl. I am blessed to love midwifery just as much now as I did when I graduated in 2005. I have had the privilege of training other midwives in Guatemala and Nunavik. After working in a rural practice in my first year, I have been working in my hometown of Cambridge ever since. Now I am excited to start a new chapter near my husband’s family in Brantford. Today I have three lovely girls that understand when mommy runs out the door she is going to go deliver a baby and am blessed to have a husband who supports me.

Heather joined the Midwives of Brant in 2005 after completing her midwifery training through Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. Originally from Northern B.C. and more recently from Western Quebec, Heather now calls Paris, Ontario home and sincerely enjoys working with the clients here in Brantford.

Tanja was born and raised in The Netherlands, where she completed her Nursing training before emigrating to Canada in 1998. Once registered as an RN in Ontario she worked for 2 years at London Health Sciences Centre. Tanja then moved to England in 2003 where she graduated with a Degree in Midwifery from the University of Luton in 2005. After working as a Midwife for the NHS for 2 years she moved back to Ontario, and worked as an RN in Labour & Delivery and Maternity at the Brantford General Hospital. After having travelled to Africa Tanja worked as an Obstetrical Nurse at Georgetown Hospital while undertaking the International Midwifery Pre-registration Program at Ryerson University to get registered as a Midwife in Ontario. Joining the Midwives of Brant in 2012 felt like coming home after having already worked as an RN at BGH. Tanja feels honoured to be your midwife. Her and her husband now call Brantford their hometown.

Michelle was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario. She graduated in May 2014 from the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University. Before entering midwifery, she graduated with a Biomedical Biology Bachelor of Science degree from Laurentian University. When she is not being a midwife, Michelle can be found swimming, walking or spending time with her family. Michelle has been working at Midwives of Brant since she graduated. She calls Brantford home and feels honoured to support our clients through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Maryellen loves helping families grow. She began her journey into midwifery after having a midwife of her own for her first child. She joined the Association of Ontario Midwives to support the "business side" of midwifery care, and her love of maternal, fetal, and newborn health eventually led her to pursue midwifery education for herself. She graduated with honours from Ryerson University in 2016.  In addition to her duties as a midwife, she acts as a preceptor to new students and aids in the continuing integration of midwifery into the health care system by contributing to many boards and committees at the Brantford General Hospital. Born in Nova Scotia and raised in Toronto, she now calls Brantford home, and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. When she's not delivering babies, she can be found in her garden, at her sewing machine, or at a local craft brewery.

Danielle grew up in Brant County and began her journey towards becoming a midwife back in 2011 when she did a co-operative placement with Midwives of Brant before applying to Midwifery school. It was here that she found her passion for midwifery and her love for the clinic. Danielle attended Laurentian University in Sudbury and graduated from the midwifery education program in 2016. She began working with Midwives of Brant in 2018. Danielle and her husband live in Paris with their two kids and she is very happy to be a part of Midwives of Brant. She looks forward to working with your families and being a part of your midwifery experience.

Heather is a graduate of Ryerson University's Midwifery Education Program and joined Midwives of Brant in May 2020. She was born and raised in Waterloo Region and spent many summers with friends in Brantford, Paris, and Ayr. She has settled in with her partner, Jeff, and children in Paris, Ontario, and in her down time plans to explore all that the area has to offer. Throughout her teen and adult years, Heather delighted in hearing the stories of her grandmothers and great-aunts who served as home birth and community midwives in rural Newfoundland during the late 19th and first half of the 20th century. She knew at a young age that she wanted to support parents during their own childbirth journey. It wasn't until she was under the care and guidance of skilled midwives during her own pregnancies that she set her sights on becoming a midwife. She is honoured to be supporting and serving Brant families during their childbearing year, and can't wait to meet you and your little bundles of joy.

Teagan graduated from Laurentian University and became a midwife in 2021. She grew up in Kitchener and although she enjoyed the nature that Sudbury had to offer, she is happy to have moved back closer to home. She settled in Paris, where she is thoroughly enjoying all the biking trails. She discovered her passion for midwifery while pursuing an undergraduate degree in Health and Gender Studies where she had an interest in reproductive justice. Teagan has had the most wonderful experience being part of MOB and connecting with the clients here. She looks forward to a long career in midwifery, supporting her clients and their journeys through parenthood.

Melanie Mackay (She/They) had the joy of working with the Midwives of Brant for their final year of their Midwifery Education Program. They are so excited to be joining the team in Brantford after graduating from McMaster University. Throughout her clinical training, Melanie also had the privilege of training in Burlington and London with a variety of healthcare professionals, including lactation consultants, pelvic floor physiotherapists, and fertility specialists. What excites Melanie the most about midwifery is fostering strong connections with her clients and supporting them in making informed choices for their pregnancy, labour, and early parenting experiences. Outside of midwifery, you can find Melanie behind a sewing machine or holding knitting needles. She lives in Ancaster with her partner Jude and their fur babies. She is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your midwifery care and is looking forward to meeting and working with you!
